Mark Barron is a native of Mobile, AL and first round draft pick (7th overall). As a 8 -year hybrid linebacker in the National Football League, Mark has been blessed to play for Tampa Bay, Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, and currently the Denver Broncos. A college standout for the University of Alabama (UA) where he was a two-time first team All-American and three-time All-SEC Selection.
Barron attended St. Paul's Episcopal High School, Mobile, Alabama where he was named MVP of the 2007 Class 5A state championship game. He also was a standout track athlete who won multiple individual state titles in shot put and long jump.
In 2019 Barron was recognized by the NFLPA as a Community MVP. Barron received this distinguished award for distributing 1,500 turkeys to families in his home state of Alabama at an event that also featured activities for kids and a raffle for other gifts. Each year Barron has organized the giveaway and he’s given away more than 8,000 turkeys and holiday meals while also making donations totaling $25,000. In addition to providing financial support and meals to his home he also conducts an annual free of charge football camp.
The current pandemic has had a negative impact on many of the families in Mobile, AL. The state of Alabama alone has seen a plus 33% increase in positive cases and abnormal rise in unemployment rate. Barron wants to offer families some relief during the holidays by blessing 15 families with $1,000 dollars to purchase Christmas presents. It’s a unbelievable gesture and we at TAP are proud to support him with this initiative.
